Georgina is a local administrative entity run by a mayor located one hour North of Toronto. The town of Georgina comprises three communities, including Pefferlaw, Keswick and Sutton, covering an area of 287.8 km². It also features over 52 kilometres of Lake Simcoe’s southern shores. The town was named after the King George III of England. During the 1817 survey, there was already some settlement in the area, with many immigrants from Britain’s upper class. One of the main attractions for settlers in Georgina was fertile agricultural land. In addition, the construction of the Toronto and Nipissing Railway encouraged visitors to visit Lake Simcoe. This made Jackson’s Point a popular tourist destination. Georgina is located 748.59 feet above sea level and has a humid continental, no dry season, warm summer climate. The city’s yearly temperature of 7.42ºC is 5.3% more than the average temperature of Canada. Georgina receives around 30.34 millimetres of precipitation and has 44.88 rainy days per year.
